Green Guanyin – Traditional Tieguanyin Oolong Tea
Green Guanyin is a traditional style of Tieguanyin (Iron Goddess of Mercy) oolong tea. Tieguanyin originated in Anxi, Fujian Province in China, but the tea style is now also widely produced in Taiwan, where it is often crafted with a slightly deeper, fuller character.
While many modern Tieguanyin teas are processed to emphasise very light and floral notes, this version follows a more traditional approach, producing a richer and more rounded cup.
The tightly rolled leaves gradually unfurl during brewing to release a warm golden infusion with a smooth yet pronounced flavour. Compared with lighter oolong teas, Green Guanyin has noticeably more depth and strength, making it a good introduction to oolong for those who enjoy the fuller character sometimes found in black tea.

- 🌱 1 tsp (2–3g) loose leaf per 250ml cup
- 🔥 Water temperature: 95°C
- 🍵 Steep for 2–3 minutes (adjust to taste)
Gong Fu Brewing
- 🫖 5g tea in a 100–150ml gaiwan or small teapot
- 🔥 Water temperature: 95°C
- 🍵 First steep: 15–20 seconds, then add 5–10 seconds for each infusion
