Oriental Beauty Tea

Oriental Beauty is one of Taiwan’s most celebrated and distinctive oolong teas, prized by tea enthusiasts for its naturally sweet character and refined aroma. Produced in Taiwan using traditional craftsmanship, this remarkable tea is classified as a high-grade type of tea and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Taiwanese tea.

Unlike many Taiwanese oolongs which are tightly rolled into small balls, Oriental Beauty is made from delicate young buds and leaves that are carefully processed into long, twisted leaf shapes. This traditional style preserves the fragile structure of the leaf and allows the tea to develop its complex aroma and layered flavour when brewed.

Often known as Bai Hao Oolong or White Tip Oolong, Oriental Beauty is particularly famous for its naturally honey-like sweetness and fruity floral notes. These unique characteristics develop during cultivation when tea leaves are gently bitten by tiny leafhopper insects, triggering natural chemical reactions in the plant that enhance the tea’s aroma and flavour.

Oriental Beauty is a famous Taiwanese oolong tee known for its naturally sweet honey aroma and fruity flavour. Produced in Taiwan using traditional methods, it is considered one of the most distinctive and prized varieties of Taiwanese tea.

Why is Oriental Beauty tea naturally sweet?

Oriental Beauty develops its signature honey-like sweetness because the tea leaves are gently bitten by small leafhopper insects during the growing season. This natural reaction in the plant produces aromatic compounds that create the tea’s unique honeyed and fruity flavour.

Why are the leaves twisted instead of rolled?

Unlike many Taiwanese oolong teas that are tightly rolled into small balls, Oriental Beauty is made from delicate buds and young leaves. These are carefully processed into long twisted leaf shapes to protect the fragile structure of the leaf and preserve the tea’s complex aroma when brewed.

Is Oriental Beauty tea green tea or oolong tea?

Oriental Beauty is classified as an oolong tea. It undergoes a higher level of oxidation than green tea, which gives it its richer colour, smooth body and naturally sweet flavour.

Can Oriental Beauty tea be re-steeped?

Yes. High-quality loose leaf tea can be brewed multiple times. Each infusion gradually reveals different layers of flavour, from floral notes to honeyed sweetness.

What does Oriental Beauty tea taste like?
