Authentic teas from Asia

WAYCHÁ

WayChá specialises in high-quality sourced loose teas, also known as cha, with an emphasis on local and regional varieties. Discover a diverse selection of oolong, black, and green teas.

The Journey

WayChá was created to share authentic Taiwanese loose leaf tea in the UK. Each year we travel to Taiwan to visit tea farms, taste seasonal harvests and select teas directly from the regions where they are produced. By experiencing the tea at its source and meeting the people who grow it, we can carefully choose small batches of loose leaf tea that reflect the quality and tradition of Taiwanese tea culture.

WHY WAYCHÁ?

While in Asia, I had the opportunity to connect with local tea growers and source tea directly from the source.

We source tea from premium crops, known for their large leaves and satisfyingly robust flavour.

Health Benefits

Pure tea leaves, like green, black and oolong tea, offer a range of potential health benefits due to their rich antioxidant content.

WHY BUY FROM WAYCHA?

WayChá was created through travelling across Taiwan and experiencing tea culture firsthand. After spending years revisiting Asia, exploring different teas and learning more about traditional tea production, I wanted to bring that knowledge and passion back to the UK.

Many of the teas available at WayChá have been discovered through personal sourcing trips, tea tastings and visits to tea growing regions in Taiwan. The aim is simple, to share authentic, high quality tea with people in the UK who want to experience more than ordinary supermarket tea.

WHAT MAKES TAIWANESE TEA DIFFERENT?

Taiwan is known for producing some of the world's most respected teas, particularly high mountain oolong teas. The combination of elevation, climate, misty mountain conditions and traditional processing methods helps create teas with smooth flavour, natural sweetness and a clean finish.

Many Taiwanese teas are also lightly oxidised and carefully crafted in smaller batches, giving them a very different character compared to standard supermarket tea bags.

IS LOOSE LEAF TEA DIFFICULT TO MAKE?

Not at all. One of the biggest misconceptions about loose leaf tea is that it is complicated to prepare. In reality, most teas can be brewed simply using a tea infuser and hot water.

Many people are surprised by how easy it is to make high quality tea at home while experiencing far more flavour than traditional tea bags.

DO YOU KNOW ALL TEA COMES FROM THE SAME PLANT?

All traditional tea comes from a single plant called Camellia sinensis. Whether it's green tea, black tea, oolong tea or white tea, the difference comes from how the leaves are processed after harvesting.

Factors such as oxidation, roasting, elevation, climate and production methods all influence the final flavour, aroma and appearance of the tea. This is why two teas from the same plant can taste completely different.
