Taiwanese Biluochun Green Tea – Sanxia Loose Leaf Green Tea
Biluochun is a rare green tea from Taiwan, grown in the hills of Sanxia in northern Taiwan. While Taiwan is best known for its famous oolong teas, only a small amount of green tea is produced on the island, making this style particularly special. Sanxia Biluochun is often considered one of the few distinctive Taiwanese green teas and offers a unique taste compared with more common varieties.
Made from tender spring tea leaves, Biluochun produces a light, fresh infusion with a smooth body and gentle vegetal sweetness. The flavour is delicate yet refreshing, often showing notes of green beans, soft florals and a clean finish that makes it an easy tea to enjoy throughout the day.
The name Biluochun translates to “Green Snail Spring”, referring to the early spring harvest and the curled shape traditionally associated with the tea. Today the Taiwanese version has developed its own character and reflects the craftsmanship of northern Taiwan’s tea-growing region.
If you’re exploring authentic teas from Taiwan, this Biluochun is a great introduction to Taiwanese green tea culture. You can discover more about Taiwanese tea and how it differs from other styles, or learn about the different types of tea and the processes that shape their flavour and character.
